Homemade Girl Scout Cookies: Samoas | Baking Bites

The other day at Ashley's Tawni made these cookies, they taste exactly like the Girl Scout Cookies Samoas, take a stab at it, they are awesome!!!

Homemade Girl Scout Cookies: Samoas Baking Bites: "Homemade Samoas (a.k.a. Caramel de-Lites)
Cookies
1 cup butter, soft
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
up to 2 tbsp milk
Preheat oven to 350F.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Mix in flour, baking powder and salt at a low speed, followed by the vanilla and milk, adding in the milk as needed to make the dough come together without being sticky (it’s possible you might not need to add milk at all). The dough should come together into a soft, not-too-sticky ball. Add in a bit of extra flour if your dough is very sticky.
Roll the dough (working in two or three batches) out between pieces of wax paper to about 1/4-inch thickness (or slightly less) and use a 1 1/2-inch cookie cutter to make rounds. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and use a knife, or the end of a wide straw, to cut a smaller center hole. Repeat with remaining dough. Alternatively, use scant tablespoons of dough and press into an even layer in a mini donut pan to form the rounds.
Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes, until bottoms are lightly browned and cookies are set. If using a mini donut pan, bake for only about 10 minutes, until edges are light gold.
Cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Topping
3 cups shredded coconut (sweetened or unsweetened)
12-oz good-quality chewy caramels
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp milk
8 oz. dark or semisweet chocolate (chocolate chips are ok)
Preheat oven to 300. Spread coconut evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet (preferably one with sides) and toast 20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until coconut is golden. Cool on baking"

I'm not sure these can be topped

Yes she really is asleep, I guess Hawaii was just to much fun for her. You should've seen the people looking at Zach, some even stopped him to see if she was really asleep!!!

Hair Bows

Can I post too many pictures of my Beautiful Baby Girl?? I don't think so!! I thought Tera needed a hair bow. So I cut up a pair of Brigette's old pantyhose (they had a run in them). Doesn't she look so dang cute!! Brigette decided she needed one too, but she wanted a flower...
Then she went upstairs, took it off, informed me it was too fat for her head then threw it at me...oh well.

Yet another one...

I'm sure you all are probably tired of seeing all my posts of Brigette sleeping, but in my phone I had these two...

Looks so comfortable!!

Which One??

Yesterday Brigette asked me if she could hold Tera. I told her she had to go sit on the couch, since we were in the bedroom. I then followed her out of the bedroom, where she proceeded to pick up a toy and go downstairs. I told Tera "sorry, she gets distracted easily." (Which I'm sure Tera was happy to hear since Brigette can get a little crazy!) After sitting on the couch and playing with Tera for a little while Brigette comes upstairs calling "mommy, where are you?" I tell her 'I'm right here!" To which she says to me "I was sitting down there on the couch!"

(She wasn't to happy with me, she did do what I said, I guess I should clarify for her next time!!)

Beauty School Dropout

The past couple of days Brigette has been asking me to polish her toenails. I guess today she got tired of waiting on me and decided to do it herself. My mom found her like this...

Doesn't she just look like such a pro!!
She even was nice enough to help Mason get started on his (sorry Beau, don't hate me!!)

Mason is now also a pro and can paint Jessica's when it gets too hard for her to do it herself!!

Brigette's finished product!! Aren't they beautiful??!! For appointments just call me, I will relay her the message!

Great Grandma Bushman

On Saturday we went and visited Great Grandma Bushman. The top picture is a picture of Grandma holding Brigette.
My Grandma absolutely loves babies! The first thing Brigette told her was "This is my baby sister Tera." Brigette was crazy the entire time we were there. I'm pretty sure my Grandma was wondering what the heck we were teaching this little girl. She kept putting up her "rock n roll" fingers and yelling and dancing all over the place!!

Brigette was very happy to let Great Grandma hold her baby Tera, and even tried to help her when Tera was fussy.

We were happy we went and my grandma got to hold her because a couple days later my grandma fell down and broke her right arm!!

So that called for another trip to grandmas, but that's ok since we love going to visit her!!

Tera Michelle Butler

On January 14, 2009 at 1:39pm my second princess arrived... Tera Michelle weighed in at 8 pounds 4 ounces 21 inches long
The night before I had a dream that she had hair, but I still was completely shocked to see that she actually did!! It makes me so happy, I love it!!

(sorry I look horrible!) This is just after she arrived. Dr. Tindall broke my water at 7:50 that morning. I am very proud to say that, no, I didn't have an epidural! It was tough, but I had to keep telling myself that I was the only one that could get her out! About half an hour before I had her I told Zach "I can't do this anymore" The last time the nurse had checked me I was only at a 5. I was having pretty hard contractions and was sure that I was going to have to wait 4 more hours until it was time to push. Well about 5 minutes after I told Zach that, I told him, "I have to push!" He went and got the nurse, she checked me and goes
"Oh! There is babies head!" She then ran to get Dr. Tindall but he had just started a c-section!! By then it didn't matter to me who caught the baby, I just needed to push! She kept telling me, "Don't push yet, don't push yet!!" She got Dr. Connelly (another Dr from Dr. Tindall's office) Dr. Connelly did a good job. I am very partial to Dr. Tindall, but everything worked out good. I pushed for about half an hour and then there she was! It was the hardest thing I have ever done, but of course it is well worth it!

Zach was talking to her about going camping and hiking

Brigette loves her baby Tera, and always wants to help. I LOVE my little girls and am so happy that I get to be their mom. I am so proud of them and love them way too much!!!

Baby Blankets

Since Tera is going to be here tomorrow, I figured I would post the blankets that I made for her last week. These are just two little burp cloths with flannel on the back.
My raggedy quilt 6x5

5x5 pink and purple with flannel on the back.

This one I didn't make, although I would love to say I did! Mitzi made it for Tera and Brigette is very jealous that it isn't hers!

FHE with Grandma Bushman

Last night we went to my Uncle Ralph's house for a monthly get together of Family Home Evening. It is always so much fun, all of my dads family that is close comes. We have a little lesson and then eat goodies and sit around and chat. My Grandma was in charge last night, and she brought some of my Grandpa's scouting stuff. It is always so neat to hear stories about him and see all the wonderful things he did. As soon as my Grandma pulled out her box the whole room shifted and everyone was intrigued by all the scouting stuff. Even the little kids couldn't get enough!!
This is a picture of my Grandma holding up my Grandpa's scouting badges. He was Scout Master for 40 years, and had something like 80 boys become Eagle Scouts under him!!

My Grandma had a book full of letters and awards and pictures of him. Some were from the White House, President Hinckly, and all kinds of awesome things that make me so proud that he is my Grandpa!!

And last but not least, my dad being goofy!! I'm sure he got that from his dad!!! He was "hiding" Brigette's cup from her. She thought it was pretty funny that papa had her cup on his head!!!

Update

Well I had another doctor appointment yesterday, nothing new. Dilated to a 3, 75% effaced. But if I don't have her by Wednesday the 14th (my awesome nephew, Tanner's birthday) Dr. Tindall will break my water. I already have my appointment at the hospital, 7:30am!!! I am so excited. I can't wait to meet her and hold her in my arms!!! Jessica "Birthing" her baby!!!

Also last night, we went to my cousin Rebecca's baby shower. It was so much fun!! They played the funniest games. Jessica won one for getting the dirty diaper, although I thought you should win if you got a clean diaper!!!! And then, Jessica almost won the "Birthing your baby" game. Beki had little plastic babies in ice cubes that you had to melt in your mouth. I wasn't even close!!! Anyways... Good luck Becca!! And special thanks to Alicia for telling me I look only 4 months pregnant!! What a way to make my week!!!

Dry Run

Well I should have figured it would happen, Zach left for Phoenix at 7 Saturday morning, it was snowing like crazy in Williams, and...(I'm a slacker) I had not packed any bags... So of course... I start having contractions around 10 am. Not a big deal, just kinda hard to breathe. Well one of my best friends ever comes to visit me and Brigette while Zach is gone. Ah, I LOVE Ash!! She doesn't believe me when I say I'm having contractions. So we rent a movie, get lunch, and then she tells me, "I think you should get packed Kourtney" Dang my little sister, so smart, doesn't miss anything, knows everything!!!! So I call Dr. Tindall instead, what an awesome dr. I have his work number, cell number and home number. So I call him and tell him whats going on, he asks me a couple of questions and upon hanging up I hear him ask "Does anyone know where Williams, AZ is??" I would have told him.
So Ash helps me pack stuff for myself, Brigette, Zach and Tera...Then we hit the road.
It takes us over TWO HOURS to get to Joseph City. I get in with my parents leaving Brigette crying because she wants her Papa and Grammy! They get me to Show Low to the hospital. My contractions were about 3 min apart by this time, and at least 1 min long.
Zach showed up about 15 minutes after we got there (yes he drives fast). They hook me up, ask me questions, and check me. At my last dr appointment I was about a 3, 75% effaced, and she was half way down. Nothing more...
So we wait, I'm starving, I can't eat anything and Darth Vader (my nurse) spilled all my juice. Darn I'm feeling sorry for myself. Well after two hours my contractions slow down and I don't dilate any more. So they send me home... Zach teases me that I am a faker, and I cry (I know, what a baby) Well Dr. Tindall wont let me go home, so if anyone is bored I am at my parents house, hanging out and sewing til this baby decides to come... wow I feel stupid.
